Save my Seat!
You have probably heard that Ozark Regional Transit (ORT) having funding
problems and the possibility exists that we will have to cut or eliminate
two routes by January 1, 2009. Our funding is from the cities of Fayetteville,
Springdale, Bentonville and Rogers, and Washington and Benton Counties.
How much money the elected officials decide to contribute to ORT is based
upon how important they think it is to their citizens. How do they determine
that? From calls and letters that they receive from people like you.
The only way YOU we can prevent the loss of those routes is for you to
write, call or email your elected officials at the city, county and state
level to better fund ORT.
You can attend City Council or County Quorum Court meetings and speak
out. You can also write the local newspapers. We have provided within
this document a list of those officials, their phone numbers and email
addresses. You need to tell them how the loss of routes will impact your
life, in your terms. Do you want a better transit system than you have
now? Tell them that as well. Even if you do not ride the fixed routes
that are being discussed for elimination, the loss of one route will impact
every transit rider.
If you let them CUT our funding this year, you may also lose your route
next year.
YOU MUST TAKE ACTION NOW to save what the service you have now, or it
will be gone. If you want a better transit system, tell them. Our local
politicians need to hear from you what our transit system means to you
NOW!!!
If you prefer to write a letter or e-mail your representatives to let them know how vital your local transit is to you, Ozark Regional Transit will be happy to gather these leters and emails and present them to your local governements.
