Light-Bus Rapid Transit from Fayetteville to Bentonville can be a reality in Northwest Arkansas!

Light-Bus Rapid Transit (LBRT) uses existing infrastructure to move the most people relatively long distance. The LBRT proposed system for Northwest Arkansas will include twelve buses at any given time along the 71B corridor with stops at yet to be determined locations for maximum impact.

Each stop will host an arriving bus every 15 minutes! Such a system has the potential for taking up to 540 northbound and southbound cars off of Northwest Arkansas highways and interstates, at any given time.

Here are a few details on the proposed Light-Bus Rapid Transit:

  • Twelve metro buses along the 71B Corridor
  • All-day access at any given bus stop every 15 minutes
  • Multiple trailhead access to the Razorback Greenway
  • Prospective reduction in overall traffic congestion in NWA

Public input meetings will be held at key cities along the corridor and Ozark Regional Transit is asking local residents to attend and give feedback to how this system should be designed.
