The recent fire experienced at Ozark Regional Transit's facilities earlier this year, and the resulting lack of adequate public transportation in the region for nine days afterward, brought to light many stories of stress and worry by ORT passengers.
These stories reflected the need for the service to get to work, to get to class and to access social and medical services. These concerns were realized on a group and even a personal level.
It is in the is light, and with approval of ORT's board of directors, that we proudly announce that U.S. Veterans, with valid Veterans Administration (VA) ID, will enjoy our fixed route services free of fare beginning Monday, June 5, 2017 and as a permanent policy for the future.
This policy is for the Fixed Routes only as the pre-scheduled paratransit and demand response models will remain at the regular fare.
We hope this policy will assist our veterans in accessing all services available without transportation concerns.
