4 Tips for Beating the Heat While Taking Public Transportation

With summer in full swing, most people rely on public transportation to get them to and from their destinations in order to escape the heat and humidity. However, a crowded bus can make you feel like you’re swimming in soup. To beat the heat while taking public transportation this summer, try these four tips.

1) Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is important all year round, but it’s especially crucial during the summer months. When you’re out in the heat, your body is working hard to regulate its temperature, which can lead to dehydration. To avoid this, make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day, and carry a water bottle with you when you’re taking public transportation.

2) Wear Breathable Clothing

When the weather is hot, the last thing you want to do is wear heavy clothing that will make you even hotter. Instead, opt for light, breathable fabrics that will help keep you cool. Natural fibers like cotton are always a good choice. Keep in mind, it may be chilly at the destination Ozark Regional Transit is taking you. So don't forget to pack layers for when you are back in the AC later!

3) Bring an Umbrella or Hat

It's always a good idea to be prepared for the weather, no matter what you're doing. When taking public transportation during the summer months, be sure to bring an umbrella or hat to protect yourself from the sun. Not only will this help keep you cool, but it will also prevent you from getting sunburned.

4) Bring a Handheld Fan

A handheld fan is one of the best ways to keep cool while taking public transportation this summer. Not only will it help you stay cool, but it will also help keep the air around you circulating.
